It has been ages since I have written anything. I am a bit addicted to work at the moment. Gray and gold is not such a rare sight as it was. Since I wrote, we have added many juniors: Osgar, Ellis, Kyle, Calci, and more. Keeping them busy is the key to keeping them out of trouble, as Art and Kyle are both working hard to teach me. I’m now on Kyle’s “list.” It might be time for me to show him some mettle.
Raiden and I still aren’t married. It’s about time to get it finished, but we are both busy. I don’t even feel stressed about it. Once this is finished, no one can keep me from him. I wonder if his loyalty is as much in question as mine seems to be at times. Wilkes said he has never doubted me, but I know others must. Nadia risked everything to stop my inevitable betrayal, she says. Of course I don’t think that’s the reason. I think she didn’t want to lose control. Whatever the answer, I can’t walk down that same path - not ever. I never fit the Waywatcher mold before. That didn’t seem like a benefit before. Considering the reputation, though...
Wilkes said I have shown “leadership,” a word that just makes me go blank. Well, not blank. I thought, “I have to stop doing that.” I don’t want him to get any funny ideas.

Everything happens all at once. Raiden had Stag Night (though we have yet to have a wedding). Everything was fine the next morning, though a belly full of mead didn’t make me very sympathetic to him - and then he found another woman’s bustier in his bag. Between that and the fact that he returned in a different shirt than the one he left in... who wouldn’t worry? He’d drink himself into a ditch if I returned from seeing Saerandir with a hair out of place. Stupid man - as if there could ever be anyone else.
Stupid me. His shirt was in his bag. We’re as bad as each other.
I arrived in Stonekeep on Sunday to find Nadia asking Tripps to escort me to the church. A nod from Wilkes gave me no choice but to obey. She apologized, but I just don’t believe it. I don’t forgive her. Why is she less dangerous now than she was a few months ago? And ten years ago? It takes longer than some months to quell bitter, jealous rage and paranoia.
I left her in the church and was ordered immediately to Wilkes’ office, where he said... a lot of things. The point is he promoted me to Lance Corporal. More responsibility. The Waywatchers are, naturally, completely unbearable about it. They hate attention, but seeing it heaped on anyone else is like catnip. I ended up marching Declan out of the Cardinal Feather, even though controlling any of them is like herding cats. I swear I was promoted just to get him out of my hair.
Oh, and, that Sean Greyson who was such an ass to me lost the election. After he told me to learn to speak to my “betters” and said that ‘marrying me off’ to Raiden was an odd choice because I’m so far beneath him, I could not have been happier to see him lose. Kros may not be ideal. Time will tell. But I know I could not abide that Greyson.
