Many.... Cold....
There was sufficient manpower available to push out of Yew this evening to ensure that the closer dungeons are not leaking forces into our lands. A decision was made to head to Ice dungeon. I had those present meet at the docks and we set out on board the Frigate, Eleanor.
The initial sail was quick and uneventful, the pirates I had spotted weeks earlier seemed to have moved on. Arriving at our destination, I laid out the plan. We were to head in, gauge the forces arrayed against us and push towards the icy fiends lair.
Entering in all seemed normal, Slime and ratmen which all fell as easily as past patrols. Heading deeper through spiders we found the first fatty, or Ice Ogre Lord if you will. Shields were raised and blades flew and soon they fell.
Moving deeper we came to a bridge with strange crystals nearby. It was now we realised that this place was teeming.... when one Ice Elemental fell, two would replace it. Ratmen came pouring out of the walls. Occasionally Megumi would freeze in place and we would need to rally around her to prevent her inevitable death. Calling a force move to a corner, we had some slight room to breathe. I could remember the old layout of the place and it had nay seemed changed. We pushed on.
Round a frozen lake, we came face to face with the first fiend, strolling brazenly in the open out of its lair. We put it down with righteous fire and steel.
Descending into the darkness of the lair, we slew more of the beasts till we stood near a pentagram on the floor, a pulsing mass at its centre. With no trainee to check it for us we had to leave it for now, but I fully intend to take a small force back to investigate later.
Heading back out, we ensured the rest of the dungeon was logged, actually finding a civilian inside with a tame dragon! We warned him to take care, however he did seem more capable than the Yewish civilians near home. Most likely some minor noble on a hunting trip no doubt.
Finding that the passage to the lost lands was not blocked, we stepped through to ensure it was still passable, it was so we headed back to the ship.
The sail back was more eventful, finding some water elementals, a random message in a bottle and an abandoned ship, before we pulled in to the dock.
Collected Gold: A shade over 21 thousand.
11 thousand handed to the church, rest to the militia piles.
Friendly Casualties: 0
My quill broke on the trip, so any pictures are long gone, ill make sure to get some stronger ones for next time.
Corsair Corporal Borgio Finstermoor
NOTE: This place seems ideal for cold weather fighting drills. Trainees and Footmen would be very capable with the right numbers to be taken here and make progress. Most likely not well suited to very experienced guardsmen, our group had little trouble.
