Normally when shit hits the fan I turn to my superior officer for support and guidance.
Well shit, it looks like I'm at the top of the food chain, willingly or not.
Nadia. Why?
So poorly planned, so poorly executed, so poorly defended. Sloppy.
Why wouldn't you use money and keep your hands clean? It's very simple, I'm not even a Waywatcher and that situation is far too dirty to be doing it yourself.
Jealousy can do incredible things to logical thinking. Insecurities about your own lack of respect within your division causes you to create rules to hold back your divisional members. The whole thing stinks of jealousy and the Church have got a very keen nose for sniffing out whorish behaviours.
It's been handed over to the Church, there will be a trial. She can't possibly remain in the militia, if she keeps her mouth shut she might escape with her life.
With regards to Harper, if she is going to be a traitor, she hasn't done anything yet. We are allied with Cove and I am friendly with Raiden, I have faith in them. If things should go tits up, there will be a difficult conversation to have. I am tasking myself with trying to improve moral in the militia, active guardsmen are hard to come by, we perhaps need to lay off certain things. Letting them enjoy relationships could be a start...

It's sometimes noted that as times get hard, those that are closest to you step up.
I have always had a close relationship with Tripps, more of a brother at times. We squabble like such, anyway. It's pleasing that I've had the opportunity to reward my old pal for his hard work and he continues to step up. He's mentoring Guardsmen outside of his division; that's not within his 'job description' but it's a sign of the times. He knows it needs doing.
Harper. I never considered myself close to Harper in any way. However the last few weeks have endeared me towards her. She has put in a lot of work above her pay-grade, she works tirelessly recruiting in New Haven. I was bitterly angry that she was attacked and put into harms way and chasing and apprehending Nadia was the least I could do. I won't be going to the trial on Sunday, I must try and remain neutral. If I were to attend I do not think my neutrality would remain. I will write my statement, possibly implicating myself and see what comes of it.
Speaking of which. Kayliegh is due to return soon... I could use her positive attitude around more, times are tough. I need to take some work load of Tripps and Harper, she'd certainly make it easier.
I hope she makes the trial.

We went treasure hunting the other day. There seems to be a competition between Tripps and Borgio on who can put us in the most sticky situation and then claim a massive success when we drag ourselves out of it, barely. It was quite entertaining although not for the brand new Trainee I imagine. I know I slept like a baby after all that charging around.
She's back.
A report left on my desk this morning contained the swirl and scribble that I have come to recognise as hers. It has been difficult as I had become used to her company. It is pleasing that on what could be the most difficult day since my return that she comes back. Does she know? Do I even believe in fate? Or shall my gold coins remain in a heavier stack over 'coincidence'.
The trial is tonight. I am still not attending, although I would like to. I didn't sleep much, I haven't eaten. Have I conducted myself properly? Have my actions resulted in any of this, or did I act properly? I have talked myself in and out of blame multiple times, I am not going to take any. This situation was allowed previously by Bladius and I have only continued this. My act to allow their relationship to continue has shown faith in the alliance and also in my fellow Guardsman.
I know the Yewish Church and the Covian Church met yesterday eve, what I would have given to be a fly on the wall.
Do they know about her? Do they need to?
We need to tell them.

I don't know what, or who the Waywatchers think they are but this shit has to stop.
I was notified this morning that another Waywatcher had attacked an -already- injured Watchman. Pathetic. After riding to Cove I found 'Garshinkle' in a pool of his own blood wrapped in bandages, it looked like a very convincing Halloween costume.
After talking to him about what happened he seemed quite sure that the attacker was Sparrow. I issued a warrant for her arrest and notified the Baron that this was not a direct order from Yew. As a gesture of good will I have waived any protective rights we may have over Sparrow and I will let the Covian judiciary system do what it wants. She needs making an example of.
I hope that this is an isolated incident and that there isn't some strange plot afoot that's spearheaded by Nadia.
We have enough issued with the emergence of the Undead. They are back and they are growing in numbers. Two sighting in Stonekeep in two days, this time to Natalie, last night to me. They left scribbles with Natalie with talk of the 'Ancient One' returning. If that's true, living in Yew is about to get a lot more unsafe.
Shit.

Taking on these Waywatchers is a full-time fecking job.
Not including all the shite from Nadia, I've now got Sparrow to dig out of the shit.
I'm not convinced that Sparrow didn't attack that Watchman but I've got to be seen to do the right thing in the eyes of the division but also in the eyes of the alliance, what a ball-ache. I spent a few minutes whirring ideas around my brain before setting the plan into motion. I don't know if she's guilty or not, but I'm giving her a chance to prove it. I marched her to Cove, stood her in front of the most senior Guardsman awake at the time; Tiberius. I informed him that Sparrow thinks she was set up by Vesper and that the initial report by 'Gar' claimed his attacker had a beard, so to conclusively say that Sparrow was the attacker would be a bit of a stab in the dark despite the other things adding up. We offered compensation to Gar despite not being sure who the attacker was. Sparrow has 3 weeks to prove her innocence else she's back to Cove for a trial.
Divisional work aside, Borgio came for a meeting. He looked tired, worn out and fed up. Being with Nadia will do that at the best of times I imagine, let alone while she's having him commute to Trinsic on a nightly basis. We spoke about the state of the Waywatchers and his ideas moving forward, for her and that situation. We didn't discuss it much; it's to be brought up with the Command team in the meeting on Sunday. Interesting though, we'll see where it ends up.
Shaw finally finished her Marksman tasks, just in time for Sunday. Harper has been issued her accepted tasks to crack on with, I am amused at her relationship with Art, he needs some mentoring. A mummy's boy if I've ever seen one. Entertaining, but almost entirely useless at present. Took the lad twenty minutes to kill a Llama because it's 'too cute'.

Well, I can't say it wasn't on the cards but it still doesn't feel real.
I think I relived my entire militia journey last night, from the day I signed up, through the wars, funerals, ceremonies and different leaders. By luck, some judgement and mostly dogged determination I've landed at the head of the table. Last night Larynda promoted me to Captain; a rank held previously by names that are told fondly in stories and of course by my mentor, Bladius. Yew declared itself a protectorate of the true King; Lord British. To be represented by me and the Governor that we will elect shortly.
Me. Representing the entire of Yew? Shit.
It was nice to see other efforts recognised last evening. From Trainee Art's promotion, Shaw getting her divisional promotion, Ankhs for service, medals and ribbons for loyalty or exceptional work. Tripps, Aiden and Aries were the recipients of the Ribbons. Two distinction for the gents and recruitment for Harper. Aiden's might have caused some questions as he seems to just run around gumming everything to death but his financial investment in the militia is something that has allowed us to keep everything in order; he is solely dedicated to Yew and everything he has is put back into the Militia. Harper has worked tirelessly in New Haven and we are now reaping the 'benefits' of this with Trainee Art.
Larynda gave me an old log book after the Last Man Standing tournament. She has kept it for almost the duration of the Militia itself, the last entry was seventeen years ago. Quite a suspect tournament I think with Larynda winning and Klion coming second. Hm.

Ran a little late for duty tonight, two or three minutes. Could have been fifteen years; Larynda had called a line-up!
She ran two events tonight, two! Said herself that she hadn't ran anything like that in at least ten years, there's definitely been a change in her recently.
Firstly she lead us all off to the Chaos Shrine to hunt for gems, armour and the like for the craftsmen to dismantle. Demons, dragons, she-demons, fire-bird sqwarking gits and the like, the footies didn't do too badly on the outing, definitely promise in some of them.
She then had us in a battle training, forming up, skirmishing and preparing to be hounded by Undead Nightmares.
I don't know what's got into her, but it's definitely a good thing.

Last night took a turn.
So Borgio finally convinced us to clamber onto one of his massive boats, to be fair, they're quite impressive. Off we set, headed towards Jhelom in search of pirates. I'm not sure what it is about Orcs but everyone who is desperate for men towards their causes is recruiting orcs, Undead, Pirates & Escaflowne and lets be honest they usually end up on the losing side as well. So a few pirate ships defeated, looted and sunk we headed over to Nu'jelm as rumour had it the Covians were there exploring their "new territory". They were there... not entirely sure what their plan was but they definitely pissed off the locals and Sward may or may not have food poisoning after helping himself to the buffet. I coined the phrase "Nu'Jelly-Belly" to describe his condition, maybe it'll catch on.
After that the Baron wasn't satisfied and wanted to sail to Vesper. The look on the poor bar-maids face when two huge ships sailed either side of her ship whilst she was spouting off threats to us. Turned out to be Esca's squeeze, thought he was more an animal man. Cove refused to sign some treaty anyway, so that's good news. Not sure what it was mind, never did find out.

Bagball is back.
Had a pre-season game in Cove a few weeks back but tonight saw it flying back in. Even without Dart, Aiden or Vance I still came out on top. Scoring eight of our ten goals. Relations with Cove are still improving, strength to strength and all that.
In true bagball style, half-time was ale fuelled and it wasn't long before two Covian lasses had their swingers out and were whacking each other in the mud. Excellent show.

Sunday, bloody again.
I took the lads and ladies out to Ilshenar, it wasn't really planned but we walked and ended up with a reasonable challenge anyway. Golden undead things, everywhere. Myself and Larynda had to leave early to attend a diplomacy meeting in Trinsic. Vesper had something to say to us all.
WAR. They bloody declared WAR! Baron Octiovus brought all of his men to the meeting and subsequently marched them all to Vesper to give them a piece of his mind, there was a small fight. I supported the Covians but they didn't need much help.*A copy of the declaration is tucked into the page*

So the Nu'jelm Campaign starts tomorrow. Cove trying to cling to the foothold they have in the sandy city whilst Vesper try and liberate it. I'm pretty sure some of the wealth of Nu'jelm is headed for the Church which is why we have been ordered to assist the Covians with their expansion...
That being said Cove hosting a battle training to get the alliance ready for battle. It started woefully. Trainees and footies dropping everywhere during the healing exercises, it did get better.
Flawless when I lead my group against that Church traitor Jassi Cowin. The numbers piled against us and we continued to succeed, tactical genius. The others had to resort to a Cove versus Yew fight to ensure they won something, keeping in mind I had taken mostly juniors and Waywatchers and the 'Watchers had no where to hide.
It's all good though, taking a beating is what makes the fighter.
Onwards to Nu'jelm

It felt strange to step onto the battle field tonight for the first time in nearly ten years; similar emotions for myself and Tripps I think. Happy that we won, pride in our Militia but my god did that ache more than the last time I ran around chasing Vesperians. We shared a brief joke about fighting alongside each other again before he headed back to his wife. I ventured over to Cove with the rest of the lads to celebrate. There is no improvement in Footman Art. I think Tripps will strangle him soon.
Am I getting too old for this!?
The alliance with Cove is stronger than ever now, the Church has a strong foothold in both of our hometowns. We both seem to be recruiting well. Long may this continue.
